5 Things to stop doing in 2016

I can’t stop talking about the new year because I am excited about it, as I am sure you are too. Soon enough, there would be a bunch of new year resolutions flying around. However, this isn’t a new year resolution. This is just candid advice on some things you should not be found doing in this coming year. They are things that you may leave out of your new year resolution as they sometimes seem negligible yet they may as well just be silent cancers in the year.
Here we go! Stop:
#1 – Procrastinating
Yes, procrastination takes the top spot. Looking back at this year I had awesome ideas, some I decided to execute, some I just got a reason not to, while I decided for some that I will just do them later. Guess what? Later never came. You guessed right! Procrastination is the thief of time. You keep saying tomorrow while tomorrow becomes yesterday. Well, it is never too late…You can start today and not tomorrow because today is yesterday’s tomorrow. Have it at the back of your mind to never leave what can be done today until tomorrow.

#2 – Giving Up
Do not give up in 2016 or in 2017! Some of us could have done those things we wanted but we gave up midway. Yes, I know what it is like to want to quit, to feel like you aren’t making headway but such times may present themselves this coming year and yes you would be tempted to quit, to give up but I think at such times that is when we are most closest to our miracle. I have heard about how a couple of people just decided to give it “one last try” and that was it. Let us not look too far – Thomas Edison tried inventing the light bulb 999 times. 999 times!
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work – Thomas A. Edison
If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves – Thomas A. Edison
The three great essentials to achieve anything worth while are: Hard work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense – Thomas A. Edison
I have tried 99 times and have failed, but on the 100th time came success — Albert Einstein
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Nearly every man who develops an idea works it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then he gets discouraged. That’s not the place to become discouraged – Thomas A. Edison
#3 – Being Unfocused
Have a goal for the new year. Set goals for the new year and focus on achieving them. Don’t just enter the new year having the mind that anything goes. Have a goal for your career, finance, relationship and focus on achieving them. If you don’t have expectations in the new year then you will settle for anything.
#4 – Surrounding Yourself With Negative People
Check if your circle of friends are they always critical? Do they tell you-you can’t achieve anything? Well, it is time to call it quits. Surround yourself with people who think you can achieve the things you set out to do, who believe in you, who challenge you and most especially push you to become a better person.
#5 – Being Thankful
Yes, I got your attention! I wanted to ensure you were following. In case you didn’t get that, the heading meant – Stop Being Thankful. Of course, I would never advise you to stop being thankful! Glad I could get your attention. In everything give thanks. Have a thankful heart irrespective of the circumstances around you. Be thankful this new year.
