7 signs That You Are An Introvert
I believe that we may never really belong fully to a particular personality trait. I may describe the traits of an extrovert and you will be able to relate with one or two of the traits. I may also describe traits peculiar to an introvert and you may not possess all the traits. I guess that’s where people say they are extroverted introverts. I just believe that we shouldn’t limit ourselves by terms. Certain situations call for us to be introverts and certain situations require that we be extroverts. Being alert and meeting the demands of each situation is being emotionally intelligent which is quite necessary for relating with others.
Here are signs that you may be an introvert –
#1 You do not like crowded environments
One of my most dreaded spots in school was the cafeteria…I once wailed to my dad that I don’t like being in a crowded environment. Well, I have learned to confront it when the occasion calls for it but if I had an option I will prefer a less populated environment. If you are just like that then you just may be an introvert – you prefer one-on-one conversations or you prefer small gatherings to large gatherings.
#2 You can stay in a place without being noticed
Introverts are generally not loud people. They can be in a room full of people and not be noticed except they choose to. Introverts are thinkers by nature. They prefer to soak in the environment and observe. Yes, introverts are very observant individuals and remember almost every tiny bit of conversations they have with others.
#3 You are very creative
This isn’t the grand litmus test of being an introvert but creatives tend to be more of introverts than extroverts.
#4 You are shy
Introverts tend to be shyer and socially awkward than extroverts. They tend to rehearse conversations with others and sometimes may prefer indirect forms of communication. However, introverts enjoy deep conversations as opposed to the belief that they don’t.
#5 You are a very dedicated friend
Introverts are very dedicated in their friendship with others. They rarely meet people out of the spur of the moment or have plenty acquaintances. They are purposeful when selecting their friends.
#6 You are a good judge of character
Introverts tend to be a better judge of character as they are great observers. They can easily read emotions, they sense when there is a mood swing or when a friend is going through a rough time.
#7 You dread phone conversations and prefer emails or text
Funny as this may sound I have given my phone a couple of times to a friend to talk. I have to talk myself into pressing the dial button especially when I am not so familiar with the person I would be having a conversation with. Awkward silences are just plain awkward for me. I am more comfortable making calls now, I still feel uncomfortable making calls sometimes, calls are however necessary. However, text me if it’s not so important.
