Optimize Your 2024: Four Strategies For Maximizing The Year

My motto for 2024 is “say less and do more: Chapter 2”. Now, the curious ones will ask “why?” As funny as my motto sounds, prior to 2023, I was caught in the web of spending all my energy planning and telling anyone who cared to listen to the plans. And when it came to actualization, there would be no energy left. Well, last year, I decided to stop spending so much time planning and saying, and actually start doing.

One year later, I look back and I am so grateful that I made that decision. However, making your year count or ticking off the boxes on your year’s to-do list, is not only a function of picking out a great motto for the year. While it helps to guide your actions in regards to the year, it is only a piece in the puzzle. What actually makes the year count is your intentionality about the year and the effective strategies you set at the beginning of the year to ensure that your year is wholesome. In other words, maximizing your year is a function of, from the start, leaning on God, committing to a plan of action that is effective, and putting in the required consistency and dedication. Consequently, achieving the desired results.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬

Have you decided to look back in December 2024 and smile at a fully maximized year? Are you intentional about making this year a year that counts for you? These are the effective strategies to put in place to make your year count indeed:

  1. Trust in God: The above verse says it all! It is only in trusting/leaning Him that He will direct our path/year. And trust me, you would want to lean on Him if you want your year to count. This is because those who put their trust in Him are triumphant. So, this year, before anything else, put your trust in God and you will realize that when you look back at the year, you will be happy you made the choice.
  1. Focus on small daily wins: It is so easy to neglect the small daily wins and pine for the big ones. While desiring to win big is good, never lose sight of the daily small ones in the process. Besides, it is the accumulation of the daily small ones that make up the big ones. Hence, in order to flow in gratitude and experience the kind of great successes and achievements you want, focus on your daily small wins and leave the big ones for when they come.
  1. Prioritize your peace: This year, allow nothing to steal your peace. If you want your year to turn out greatly better than previous years, prioritizing your peace is a must. When you prioritize your peace, you are embracing the peace Jesus gives and consciously letting go of anything or anyone that will steal it away. And as we all know, Jesus gives peace. So, in all we do this year, we should make it a conscious effort to protect this precious gift that Jesus gives to us freely.
  1. Stop doubting your progress: One habit making people unable to maximize their year is staying too focused on self-doubt. It is normal to doubt yourself for a few seconds or minutes. But never allow it get to a point where you cannot even measure your progress. Because it becomes self sabotage. Now, how are you going to get better if you do not allow yourself to measure your progress? In 2024, do yourself some good and start believing in your progress. This way, the sky becomes your starting point.

2024 can be your THAT year. It just takes dedication, determination, and these transformative strategies. Just stick to the strategies listed above and experience a fulfilling and productive year.

Happy New Year!!!
