Three Amazing Ways To Put A Smile On Jesus’ Face Today

Fun fact: I am sort of a control freak. I like to plan, organize and have everything happen as I have planned. Anytime things do not actually go according to my plans, I feel like I am losing my mind. And trust me, this happens a lot.
However, as my relationship with God grows stronger and firmer, I have realized that my urge to control everything is slowly dissipating. I would not say that there are not times when the urge is so strong. But by clinging to God, I am learning to trust the One that has full control over everything.
One thing with relinquishing power or control to God is that, rather than seeking self, you begin to subconsciously seek only God’s will. With this, you find yourself waking up in the morning with questions like, “how can my attitude/behavior bring glory today?”, “how can I spread the love of God today?”, or “what steps can I take to walk in the will of God for my life?” Essentially, you wake up every morning yearning to please or bring honor to God in everything you do.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 NIV
Today, I stumbled on a post that admonished us to post a smile on Jesus’ face today. This post made me realize how important it was that Christians make God proud and happy too. Because at the end of the day, our relationship with God is a two way thing. As much as He gives us more than we can give Him, we can still take deliberate steps daily to make Him know that we are intentional about His business and strive to do what pleases Him alone.
On that note, today’s post lists three amazing ways to make Jesus smile today:
- Tell someone about Jesus today: Longing to have Jesus beaming with joy right from heaven? Tell someone about His goodness today. Recall that when Jesus was on the earth, nothing was more important than his Father’s business (which was carrying the good news of grace to the world). And he expects the same from us. So, if you want Jesus to be certain that you are about his Father’s business and happy and proud that he chose you for the task, tell someone about His love and mercy today.
- Put a smile on someone’s face today: Is it not lovely that we put a smile on Jesus’ face when we put a smile on someone’s face? This definitely shows how gracious and caring he is towards us. Whether it is sharing a meal with someone or praying for someone, your purpose for today should be to make someone smile and Jesus and the host of angels will be applauding you with smiles on their faces.
- Extend a hand of grace and forgiveness today: When Jesus came down to earth, God extended a hand of grace and forgiveness to all humans. Now, extending a hand of grace and forgiveness too when someone hurts you or does something wrong suggests willingness to follow in God’s footsteps. It also points out gratitude and respect for for His grace and kindness towards you. With this gesture, I think Jesus could not be any more happier and proud.
When Jesus smiles at us, it means that we are able representatives of God’s kingdom. Resolve to make Jesus’ happiness your priority and God will be forever pleased that He chose you as His beloved.
