It is no longer news that we now have online-based jobs springing up more than before. We now have people working more online than before.
And so, as people are working more online, where is the line between working online and getting distracted online? Where does online productivity come in?
Therefore, for those who tend to work more online, here are some productivity tips for you:
- Schedule: schedule things you can schedule beforehand. For instance, for social media managers, you can schedule your posts beforehand, if you have a lot to do and won’t be able to post on social media the time you want the post to be online. The idea behind scheduling is simply planning things in advance or posting things in advance. There are several scheduling apps and tools you can use in scheduling work beforehand. Research on the ones suitable for your work and use the ones beneficial to you.
- Put away distractions: if someone gets to work more often on his or her phone, there will be the need to make sure he/she isn’t getting distracted while working. As an example, if I am to work on Instagram, I have to endeavour not to get distracted by other things that have nothing to do with my work. Also, for those who work more on their computers, you can turn off email notifications for the period of time you will be working, so as not to get constantly distracted. Also, you can put your phone away from sight, so as not to be incessantly checking our phones while working.
- Have adequate information: have the right amount of information you need to work or start work before working. For instance, if you are to start a task by 8 pm, and you are to finish by 10 pm; have the required amount of information or background information you need on the task before the time you set to start the task, so as to aid the faster work and maximize the available time needed for the work.
- Preparation: for instance, if I am to write a post for social media, let’s say Instagram, it will be better for me to prepare or plan before setting out to do it. That’s why social media calendars are useful for instance, with the calendars we can plan beforehand on what to post, and it aids a faster work.
- Get useful tools: find out about useful tools that can be of help to you with your work online. There are different tools available for writers, graphic designers, social media marketers, etc. there are tools for group communication, design, scheduling, project management, and so on.
- Use keyboard shortcuts: use keyboard shortcuts so to help you work faster on your computer. With keyboard shortcuts, you won’t have to go through a long process of accessing something on your computer; the keyboard shortcuts will help you access it faster.
- Take breaks: breaks are important, take breaks when you need to take breaks, and don’t skip taking breaks.
