Bible Blessings: Four Fantastic Ways God Impacts Us

Knowing God is the best thing that could ever happen to me. And I am eternally grateful to my parents for choosing the right way and leading us in it. There is really no way outside the Jesus way. Now, I am so sure that I am not the only person that feel that way. Like me, countless of Christians, are still baffled at the idea that God chose to know and love us despite our failures and shortcomings. What an awesome privilege!
Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”
Psalms 36:5-7 NIV
However, my faith journey being the highlight of my life, does not mean it has been a journey devoid of challenges or storms. I have been in situations where I have doubted God or felt like my world was crashing down and He did not care.
I know your next question is something of this sort, “so why is this experience still the best thing that could ever happen to you?” It is the best thing because it is a wholesome journey. God is not just about choosing and instructing us. He is also about loving, comforting, supporting and overall, having a healthy relationship with us. One where we get to know Him and experience the different sides that there are to Him. When He allows us to go through a difficult process or situation, it is not that He does not care or has abandoned us, it is that through the situation, we can experience a different side of the awesome God He is.
So, typically the Christian journey is a journey of hope, love, and trust in God. A walk where you are sure that no matter what the situation might look like, He is very much interested in bringing out the diamond in you. Now, tell me a better experience/relationship between two people than this.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Still yet to get a hang of what I have been writing about? Take a look at four fantastic ways God impact us, especially when we are in the midst of a storm or challenge:
- As our shepherd: As simple as this is, God as our shepherd is such a big deal. It is the most meaningful way we can relate with God. It simply makes all the difference. Because this suggests that before we take any step, He is already with us, guiding and protecting us from harm’s way. And even when we take the wrong steps, He is still there to help us retrace our steps, leading us to safety. So, it does not matter if we took the wrong steps or simply cannot get out of a situation, our ever present shepherd is on the lookout for us.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
Psalms 23:1 NIV
- As our helper: Let’s get real! In a world as ours, we definitely need God as our helper to survive the trying times. And is it not beautiful that we have a God that assures us that He will be our help in times of need? It shows that we have an all knowing Father who foresee challenges and comes to our rescue even before we know that we need Him. What a wonderful and loving Father He is!
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalms 46:1 NIV
- As our friend: God is not just our father, He is also our friend. He is always there to listen to our deepest worries and cheer us up on our bad days. In essence, God is always willing and ready to relate with us as personal as we would want Him to. Be it as a friend or father, His arms are always open wide for us.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
John 15:13-15 NIV
- As our provider: Psalms 23: 1 says it all. God does not only lead us, He also makes sure we are not in need. Therefore, whatever our needs are, we should not worry. Because we are certain that we belong to a God with overflowing riches. So overflowing that He does not like His Children to lack anything good.
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 NIV
The God way is the most impactful way of living anyone can think of. And the list on the various ways God impacts His children is inexhaustible. The list above are some of the examples I have seen practical in my life. If you know of more ways, please feel free to add in the comments section.
