Five Healthy Practices To Incorporate Into Your Daily Routine Now

A major intention for 2024 is to live as healthily as possible. This is in terms of mental health, self care, and physical health. It is such an important goal for me to achieve because as I approach my late 20s, I want to live intentionally and strive to do the things that will keep me in the best of health.  

But the frustrating thing about this intention of mine, is that for years, it has always made it to the top of my New Year’s Goals List. And it is so frustrating that I have not been able to achieve it yet. This is due to the fact that I always seem to prioritize everything except my health.

Well, in 2024, I am saying no more to that kind of way of living and simply embracing practices that suggest intentional living and are also beneficial to my health. As the old saying goes,”health is actually wealth”. If I want to be or do all that God has called me to do or be, I should start investing in my health. Because without good health, there is so little that I can do.

However, one thing I am doing differently from past years is that, rather than focusing on planning on how to start taking better care of my health or skillfully putting it down as a goal for the year, I AM STARTING NOW! Not next week! Not tomorrow! Now! 

If you are like me and you are done procrastinating prioritizing your health, here are some health habits to consider incorporating into your daily routine NOW: 

  1. Getting quality sleep/rest: I will say this again! Skipping your sleep or rest time does not make you more productive or successful. If anything, getting quality sleep reduces stress and improves your mood. Consequently, helping you think more clearly and do better at work or in school. Now, imagine a healthy habit where you get to improve the quality of your life as well as productivity in work or school. Indeed, prioritizing quality sleep is definitely a win-win habit that no one should joke about.
  1. Tidying up your space before sleep: There is something about tidying up your space before sleep that improves the quality of your sleep, thus making you feel energized and active in the morning. No matter how tiresome a day has been, try not to sleep in an untidy space and in due time your body and mind will thank you for incorporating it into your routine.
  1. Drinking hibiscus tea for your skin: A great complement to an existing skincare routine is taking hibiscus tea. According to research, the high mucilage content of hibiscus enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture, which is a key factor in anti-aging. So, as 2024 is in its infancy, cultivate the habit of drinking hibiscus tea and by the middle of the year,  you will be surprised at how healthy and glossy your skin will look.
  1. Taking care of your scalp: It is common for people to prioritize their skin while forgetting that the scalp is part of the skin. It should not be so. If we are going to take care of our skin, we should as well take care of our scalp too. Remember that caring for your scalp gives your hair follicles a healthy foundation. Hence, if you want to be healthy all round, care for your scalp too.
  1. Surrounding yourself with inspiring people: Did you know that surrounding yourself with inspiring people is also a form of healthy living? Yes, it is! It is true that associating with the right people can have a tremendous impact on your mental health and overall outlook to life. In 2024, take a step forward in caring for your mental health by surrounding yourself with impactful people.

While making big plans and changes for our business family, community and careers, we should also consider taking effective measures to ensure that we are in the best of health. Include these simple healthy habits into your daily routine this year and make 2024 all round great for you.
