It is Friday! And just as for many others, it is also my favorite time of the week. On weekends, I get to leave the hustle and bustle of work, unwind, practice self care, and spend time with friends, and family.
For couples, their weekends might be slightly different from this. Whereas for the singles, weekends are usually selfish, Christian couples spend their weekends seeking ways that they can bond, learn and grow together. In other words, weekends are perfect for couples to spice things up in their marriage or relationship.
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.
I Peter 4:8 NKJV
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
Colossians 3:19 NKJV
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
I Thessalonians 5:11 NKJV
A date night is a great way to spice up your relationship this weekend. Whether at home or inside the fancy walls of a restaurant, date nights suggest intentionality, commitment, and care.
Hence, if you want your name to be on the lips of your spouse/partner all through next week and beyond, these are ideas for the perfect date night that will wow them and nourish the relationship:
- Start a campfire: Ditch the regular date nights and bond over gathering around a campfire in your backyard or the beach. If you are not up to doing a lot of work or going out, huddling by the fireplace will suffice. Also, you can make things fun and lively by sparking up conversations or singing.
- Flip through old photos: Reflect and get nostalgic this weekend by pulling out the albums. This way, you get to measure your growth in the relationship, reflect on the relationship, and ultimately bond through shared experiences and mistakes.
- Read to each other: Tell me a more romantic date night idea than reading to each other on a cold night and I will tell you to wait. Whether it is a romantic comedy novel or the Bible, reciting the pages to each other stirs up genuine emotions and makes any date one for the books. Looking forward to spending little money and still “wowing” her/him? This idea works!
- See a comedy show together: Nothing makes couples enjoy each other’s company and connect deeply like laughing together. Tired of routine dates? Skip the cozy corners of restaurants and get the endorphins flowing. Attend a standup comedy show or start a comedy series and thank me later.
- Schedule a spa night: Affirm your commitment and love for your partner by getting him/her pampered. Doing it DIY or actually getting a masseuse, spa nights are popular for improving bonds and skin.
