Four Ways To Know That It Is From God

Do you know that there are some good things that have or will happen to us, in life that might be from God. Contrary to popular belief, not everything seemingly good is from God. Most times, there are opportunities, relationships, and gifts that the enemy would try to present as true just to detract us from God’s purpose or best for our lives.
That is why it is in our best interest to invite the Holy Ghost into every decision and path we take and also be sensitive to His leading and guidance. Like my favorite preacher, Pastor Joseph Prince, would always say; ”if it does not bring peace to your heart, then, it is not from God” (paraphrased). Why so? God is the God of peace! Hence, if He puts something in your heart, no matter how it might look or feel impossible, He will give peace alongside the idea. Assuring you that no matter how outrageous the relationship, move, or idea might feel at first, you have and will never be alone. You just have to trust and lean on Him to paddle through.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 NKJV
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
As was said earlier before, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit helps you discern what is from God and not from God. Through Him, certain signs and impressions are laid upon your heart urging you to move on with the plan or relationship or stop dead in your tracks. And when you heed His instructions, you realize that His plans give an expected end indeed.
Still trying to decipher whether the promotion, lifting, or breakthrough is from God. Confused as to whether you are hearing your own voice or God’s? Here are four ways to know that it is from God:
- It glorifies Him: Will the process give praise and glory to God? If yes, then it is from God. As God will not give or be in anything that highlights man as the doer. Remember that He is a jealous God. If the job/relationship/choice shifts the praise from God to man, that is definitely a red flag. And if it does not, a green flag. Therefore, before you embark on any quest, ensure that God will be honored in the process.
- It aligns with His Word: One way to be certain your steps are of God is if there is harmony between the particular path you are about to thread and His Word. If His word speaks to you as it relates to the situation you are in, then I think you are on the right path.
- It requires faith and dependence on God: In my adult years, one thing that makes me confident that God is in the process, is if I cannot do it on my own. My total dependence on Him shows me that it is actually from Him, and He wants me totally dependent on Him for everything to fall into place.
He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. “For by strength no man shall prevail.
I Samuel 2:9 NKJV
- It brings you closer to Him: God desires that we be close to Him. And I feel that God makes that happen by orchestrating these happenings that will bring us closer to Him. Bear is mind that God’s ways are indeed higher than ours. So, he can definitely use a relationship/job to bring us closer to Him, if He wants to.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9 NKJV
