2022 has swiftly passed, and here we find ourselves in April. If you are pondering how swift the year has been, you are not alone—I share the sentiment! The rapid progression of these months serves as a reminder that time is of the essence this year. Now is the opportune moment to take decisive action on your plans for the year. Failure to do so may result in the months passing by without tangible accomplishments.
Just like every beginning signals something new, the start of the new month, April, implies that there is yet another chance to go after your plans, dreams, and aspirations ferociously. This means that the new month brings a fresh opportunity to set intentional goals and accomplish them notwithstanding. And, the outcome lies in how you decide to go about your daily activities in the new month. In essence, making your year count is a function of the little steps you take every month to ensure that at the end of the year, whatever you had set out to do in the course of the year, you actually accomplished. Thus, creating no room for feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness.
Wondering if you will be able to accomplish anything in the new month? Feeling helpless and inefficient as it relates to your plans and goals for the year?
Let’s take a look at some of the ways in which you can make the new month count:
- Commit the month into God’s hands: The Bible verse below says it all. Do you want your plans to succeed or be established? Or do you want your month/year to yield good results? Then, God has to be in the know. He has to be in the center. You have to always lean on him for guidance and direction. Or else, all your struggles and plans will come to nought. Because except the Lord builds a house the builders build in vain. Hence, if by the end of the year, you want to look back on being proud of all you achieved, learn to commit each month into God’s hands.
Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Psalms 37:5 NKJV
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalms 127:1 NKJV
- Start the month on a clean slate: Forget about all that went wrong in the past months. Rather, choose to focus on all the things that you want to do differently in the new month and put all your energy into making sure it happens. This way, your past or previous failings have no hold over you. Instead, you create a new and healthy atmosphere for growth and excellence.
Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV
- Learn from previous mistakes in the past months: What were the things that you felt hindered you from achieving results? What are the things that you want to change moving forward? These are the questions you should ask yourself at the beginning of every new month. These questions help you take inventory of everything that led up to the point you are. With these questions in mind, you are then able to reflect on previous months and seek ways to correct what needs to be corrected in order for success to happen in the new month and months ahead.
- Be realistic in your goals and plans: Set goals that you can actually follow through with. Have goals that are not far-fetched and unrealistic. Do your goals fit into your budget, lifestyle, family structure, aspirations, etc? If the answer is no, you have to go back to the drawing board and create something that works.
These year can actually count!!! Just be committed in taking practical steps that will make each month work for you. When that is done, the sky becomes your starting point as it relates to achieving results this year. What other ways one make the new month work? Feel free to add.
