Video Interview with Kechi Okwuchi:
Everyone that comes across Kechi Okwuchi admits that she is a source of inspiration. Kechi Okwuchi was one of the two survivors of Sosoliso plane crash in 2005 that claimed 108 lives. The crash took the life of her best friend and 59 other Loyola Jesuit college students, the popular relationship Pastor (Bimbo Odukoya), and others.
Irrespective of this incident, Kechi Okwuchi has not let any of these affect her positive outlook on life. After several reconstructive surgeries in the US, Kechi restarted her education. In 2015, She graduated from the University of ST. Thomas, where she was the best in her class, and she was the student speaker for her graduating class commencement speech. To read Kechi’s Commencement Speech, click here. Recently, Kechi had this to say on Facebook:
Kechi was also a speaker at TEDxEuston in December 2015. The plane crash has in no way slowed down Kechi or impacted her positive outlook on life. We were glad to have an interview with Kechi on Inspirational Thursdays. Before we get to the video, here are a few things we can learn from an outstanding lady:
#1 When Life Throws at you Lemons, Make Lemonade
First, I do not know of a lot of plane crash survivors because the plane crash is usually very ghastly but Kechi is one of them. Not just surviving but thriving. What is your situation? There is nothing new under the sun, whatever situation you are facing, someone has gone through the same or worse and is thriving. There is no sad moment or pitiful moment around Kechi and she shares this happiness to those around her.
#2 Excellence
Kechi was at a place where if she had failed, she had an excuse. However, she has put in as much effort as she can in every one of her endeavors, never for once pitying herself. You can say; She has grabbed the bull, by the horn. From her college days to her current graduate studies Kechi’s grades have shown her strive for excellence.
#3 Positivity
It is hard to go through over a hundred reconstructive surgeries and remain intact. However, Kechi exhumes confidence and is positive. You would want to have a conversation with Kechi when you meet her and after getting to know her, you are left feeling inspired. No pity at all. Just love for such a great individual.
#4 God
Knowing all these about her, one would wonder where she draws her strength from. Look no further – God. She never leaves out her relationship with God when telling her story. Before the plane crashed she had mentioned to her seat partner that they needed to pray.
There are a lot more things that you can learn from her life just to mention a few. Please like, comment and share. Also, subscribe to our YouTube Channel for more inspiring videos.
