Taking good care of your hair is important, and there are some things you need to stop doing to your hair in order to allow your hair grow well and retain length. Check out these ten things to stop doing to your hair:
Pulling your hair too tightly
Stop it! Stop pulling your hair too tightly. Whether it is when you pack your hair in a bun or when you make your hair, or when you style your hair; avoid pulling your hair too tightly.
Not caring about your edges
Your edges are important to your hair, and you need to stop caring less about your edges. Ensure that you don’t use harmful products around your edges. Avoid allowing makeup touch your edges, avoid wrapping scarfs too tightly around your edges, and so on.
Cleaning your hair with a towel
Whenever we wash our hair, we need to clean it. And so, instead of cleaning your hair with a towel, clean your hair with a clean old t-shirt. If you clean your hair with a towel, you are inviting frizz.
Not moisturizing your hair
It is no longer news that your hair needs moisture. If you don’t moisturize your hair, you are not taking care of your hair well. Endeavour to moisturize your hair regularly and do it the right way.
Not sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase or using a satin bonnet
Your hair needs to retain moisture and be moisturized. Rather than sleeping on a cotton pillowcase, you can sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. Instead of that, you can wear a satin bonnet or wrap your hair in a silk scarf before you sleep.
Using harmful hair accessories
Avoid using hair accessories that are harmful such as hair accessories that are too tight or hair accessories that have metals that can harm your hair, and so on.
Avoid regular use of heat on your hair
Ensure that you avoid using heat directly on your hair. There are so many hairstyles you can make without having to apply heat to your hair. Even if you have to apply heat to your hair one in a long while, making it minimal.
Not massaging your scalp
Endeavour to massage your scalp regularly. This helps to stimulate blood flow. It also aids hair growth.
Keeping a protective style for too long
You shouldn’t keep a protective style or hair extensions for too long than necessary. This isn’t advisable. In addition, before making another hair, try to leave your natural hair for a while.
Not liking your hair
You need to like your hair, and not only that, you need to like your hair type. You might not have the same hair type with the other person; this doesn’t mean your hair isn’t good or beautiful. You need like your hair and be comfortable with it. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care for your hair to make it healthier.
