Have you met Christians who seem nice and hospitable in church but in their office or place of business, they are totally different people. Yes, they exist! For them, work or business is no joke and they are ready to do whatever it takes to be at the top. Although, as Christians, we are called to succeed in our endeavors, it should never be at the expense of our faith and beliefs. In whatever we do, be it at the workplace or church, it should be for the glory of God.
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
It is true that in the fast-paced world of professional life, the intersection of faith and work often takes a back seat. However, it should not be so! In whatever we do, we should endeavor to align our values and faith systems with our professional journey. Basically, this approach strives for oneness in how we handle our affairs spiritually and work-wise. Consequently, representing Christ and His finished work in our deeds and actions. Which in turn, enriches the services we offer and enhances our spiritual growth and overall well-being.
Below are simple steps to achieve oneness as it relates to our faith journeys and professional paths:
- Embrace godly principles: Infusing godly principles such as compassion, love, integrity, and humility into our work routine is fundamental in integrating our Christian values and professional lives into one. Is it in how we interact with colleagues, handle challenges, or contribute to the workplace? We should strive to incorporate values that represent Christ in how we approach these situations. This way, we are a beacon of light and hope. Thus, creating a harmonious work environment and spreading Jesus wherever we are.
- Overcome challenges by faith: The manner in which we handle challenges in the workplace shows if our faith aligns with our works. Every career journey is marked by challenges. And in such situations, faith is our best bet. Trusting in God allows you to view challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. It also builds resilience and unwavering trust in the face of adversity.
- Cultivate a supportive work environment: It is vital that we share our faith in our work environment. Nonetheless, sharing your faith in the workplace does not imply imposing your beliefs on others. Instead, evangelize with love and respect. Create a supportive environment where grace is in abundance. Where individuals feel comfortable and safe. By doing so, you become a worthy ambassador of God’s love and grace.
Becoming a Christian entails transformation in every aspect of one’s life. In a world where the lines between work and life often blur, infusing your job with your faith is challenging. It implies total surrender to your creator. But it is essential in guiding one towards a meaningful and purpose-driven professional life.
