RUTH SERIES 1

“Ruth you can’t marry from that tribe, it is forbidden, if you do, never you return back to us because we would have nothing to do with them. Who do they think they are anyway? They go about talking about a God who doesn’t exist, whom they claim talked to their forefathers”.

She still heard her father’s voice as clearly as that day and she could still picture her mom’s perfect face, soiled with tears as she watched her daughter drag out her tiny box out of the house.

Well, she had made up her mind and if they weren’t going to see reason with her, then fine. She stood at the gates of her soon to be home and slowly braced herself for the next phase of her life that was filled with so many uncertainties. As she tried knocking on the door with the last strength in her as she had not had time to eat so far, the door flung open, off came prince charming.

He made her forget all her fears and look at a bright future.

“Ruth, I have been waiting all day for you”

His grin could make any lady forget her name. The look on her face told him she had been through a lot. He whisked her from the ground and carried her straight inside. There she met her mother-in-law alongside her brother-in-law and his wife.

“Ruth, I hope you know that the commandment of our God is that we respect our father and mother, that our days may be long on earth? As soon as you settle in we need to get your parents approval”

“Mum please Ruth has been through a lot, for now, can we just encourage her?”

“I think mom is right and I would do just as she has said as soon as their anger has subsided”

Orpah silently dragged Ruth from the heated gaze of her mother-in-law and Ruth gave her this grateful stare, she was tired of fighting, all she wanted was peace and she would get that in the arms of her love. Staring blankly into the thin air she remembered how they met.

It was the usual festival in Moab and she was tired of all the waist shaking and boisterous boys around without aim and only looking for girls to marry and add to the ones which they already had. She already had questions concerning this god Chemosh that they claimed to dance to as he was yet to speak to her! She strolled into the woods just to think as had been her usual routine lately.

A beautiful sound was coming from the woods and as she moved closer to the area where the sound was coming from she saw a stunning looking man. “This must be a dream she thought to herself” he looked too stunning to be real and suddenly she tried to hide herself to stare a little more and those eyes caught her eyes.
