Ten Go-to Gospel Songs For A Bad Day

The human heart is one of the most vital organs in the human body. It has a rhythm; a song which stops only when life does. It is the heartbeat.

Interestingly, the beat of the heart is measured in beats per minutes (BPM). That is the same unit for determining the tempo of a musical combination. I believe God did this to establish the relevance of music to the human experience.

Music is a universal language which transcends time, race, and culture to help us cope with reality.

Also, it has a direct connection to emotional states present in human beings. This is evident in the book of Psalms.

It stresses the fact that our states of mind are heavily influenced by what we listen to, and how much of it we choose to dwell upon.

Music is so empowering and refreshing. Such that even the most depressed soul is transformed by a melody in the heart.

On that note, I have curated 10 favorite go-to gospel songs to help add flavor and color to your day:

  1. Joy In the Morning by Evan Ford

This is a mellow tune with words so expressive that they paint a perfect picture of hope. Everything leads to something, and today’s sorrow may yet lead to tomorrow’s joy. Tired of trusting the process? Trust God now.

  1. Smell The Roses by Cecily

“Smell The Roses” is a record off Cecily’s recent studio album “NINETEEN”. The message is that of patience and calm during the storm.  It is a subtle reminder that when things get crazy, we must keep praising. Despite the thorns, it is necessary to slow down and smell the roses.

  1. Provider by Cade Thompson

Unmet desires are some of the reasons why people become unhappy. I love this song and the way it makes me question my desires. God knows what we need even before we ask. He is our provider. This song will leave you feeling more grateful for what you already have, in anticipation of what you are about to receive from the Father. A great record indeed.

  1. Great by Bridge Music, Reggie Dartey & AP

There is a feeling that comes with the knowledge of God’s greatness and supremacy over all people, things, and situations. It comes with a certain kind of confidence and empowerment to do and to be whatever, according to His purpose. This is an empowering song to listen to with friends whenever you are low in spirit.

  1. No Other by Ryan Hylton and Amanda Kono

Ryan Hylton collaborates with Amanda Kono to brings gospel to Afrobeat. We are reminded of God’s uniqueness. Indeed, there is no other like Him. I can guarantee you a good dance even as you find out what makes God stand out from others. It is a beautiful sound all the way through

  1. To Be Loved by Lydia Laird

Lydia’s incredible vocals matches her equally incredible message. It is enough to be loved by God. He does not want your perfection. Our perfection is the risen Christ. He wants nothing else but to have us yield to His love. What a joy to know that we have God’s affection. This is a liberating song.

  1. Surrender by Stevie Rizo

Stevie takes us back to Christ’s words in this HipHop/R&B classic. When the burdens of life get too heavy for your shoulders, remember you have a savior who wants to take the load off. He wants your emotional baggage in exchange for peace, satisfaction, and rest. First, we must surrender to Him. I promise, you cannot not love this record.

  1. Always by Evan Ford

Human love may grow cold, but Christ’s love is unconditional. People come and go. Yet, He is the one who never leaves. Always there to inspire of you.

  1. High up by Jonathan Traylor

This is a song about identity; knowing who you are and whose you are. In a world where people try to tear down each other with hurtful words, this kind of knowledge becomes essential for blocking negativity and living a more purposeful life. A soothing song to help boost your confidence in who you are in Christ.

  1. Thankful by Verses

Gratitude is everything. This song will leave you feeling grateful for the benefit of life. The electrifying melodies charges you up with new energy. Not a song to listen to on the streets. You will embarrass yourself.

Good melodies and lyrics have such a powerful influence over our lives. Therefore, it is only wise that you are intentional about what you listen to. You must consciously filter out the garbage and take in only that which edifies you spirit. I hope you enjoyed going through my list of 10 go-to gospel songs for a bad day. See? It is not a bad day after all now, is it?
