The Power In Silence

The Power In Silence

There is power in silence! There were times when Jesus Christ did not have to reply to the Pharisees and the Sadducees. His silence spoke the words instead. When you are angry, try silence sometimes. Because in the moment of anger, heavy words spill. Now, just because silence is golden, one does not necessarily have to keep quiet all the time. That is why the Bible says that wisdom is profitable to direct. Know when to speak and much more importantly, know when to STAY SILENT! The word of God says:

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

James 1:19‭-‬20 NKJV

Also, it is vital to know when to talk or pray, and when to be still and silent enough to hear God’s part.

Why is silence powerful, and why is wise for one to stay silent when necessary?

He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace.

Proverbs 11:12 NKJV

  1. Silence helps you stay in control: No matter how hard it is to control your temperament in times of commotion or confusion, silence helps you stay in charge of that situation. When people try your patience and want you to flare up, staying silent can help you remain in charge. Sometimes, all you need to do is TO BE SILENT.

A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;

Ecclesiastes 3:7 NKJV

  1. Silence gives you a clearer picture: When there is uproar and pandemonium, staying silent can help you get the real picture of the situation. When you are to speak harshly or to act in a rash manner, silence helps you work through your feelings.

Let him sit alone and keep silent, Because God has laid it on him;

Lamentations 3:28 NKJV

  1. Silence keeps you away from sin: How to stay out of trouble or out of sin is by keeping your mouth shut. When you are quick to talk, it is possible to stay in sin and transgression.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

  1. Silence helps you know the mind of God: In times of trouble, fight, or distress, silence helps you know the mind of God. When your spirit is hushed up, it is easy to know the mind of God. But when there tension, it is not easy to see things clearly.

In this golden age where everybody speaks up and lives freely, know when to seek the power of silence. There is no weakness in silence. Instead, it keeps you in power. The Bible says:

Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
