Three Unique Ways To Show Love All Year Round

My favorite love quote captures love as a way of being. I love the way it reminds me that love is not a feeling for a particular season or period but rather a virtue that must be practiced every day.
Love is a way of being.

I am saying this because it is Valentine’s season and it is so common to see people go above and beyond to impress or show their appreciation for their loved ones or people in general. While it is necessary to celebrate the season showering love on the people who you want to, it is important to note that this way of life should not just be restricted to Valentine’s Day or period but should be a practice we carry with pride everywhere and everyday.
Remember that as Christians, we represent God in our words, thoughts, and deeds. And if God is love, it just implies that in whatever we do or wherever we find ourselves, it should be evident that the spirit of God – love is in us.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:8 NIV
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
Anxious about how to show God’s greatest gift – love to those you encounter this Valentine period and all year long? Today’s post captures unique ways to do that:
- Forgive completely: God showed us His love by forgiving us of our sins and sending His son, Jesus Christ to die for us. This is to say that to love is to forgive. And not just forgiving but without punishing. When we forgive others for their wrong doings, we humble ourselves and extend the kind of love Christ gives to us. Hence, in this love season and the other seasons to come, choose forgiveness and you will be making God a proud Father.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:13 NIV
- Listen without interrupting: In a world where everyone has an opinion, it takes discipline and awareness to listen without interrupting. However, it is a love practice worth cultivating because it communicates respect, validation, and genuine interest in the other person’s thoughts and feelings. By giving our undivided attention and allowing them to express themselves fully, we show that their words matter and that we value their presence. Today, make someone feel seen or heard by listening without interrupting and you will realize your ability to spread love by doing the simplest things.
- Pray continually: One easy way to spread the love of Christ to people we meet or encounter who face challenges, is to continually lift them up in prayers. You may not be able to help them financially or physically but a prayer said on their behalf goes a long way to show your love and support for them. Also, this spiritual support fosters a deep sense of connection and solidarity, affirming that we care for each other as God cares for us.
As said earlier, love is a way of being. Love is not only for the Valentine season. It is an everyday thing. All year round, endeavor to be a repository of God’s love and grace and you will definitely get His pat on your back
