And so, if you are to participate in a Skype interview, here are some things to consider:

1. Prepare ahead of the Time: don’t start setting up your equipment exactly when you should be already seated for the interview. And so, at least set-up what you need to set-up some minutes before the exact time of interview will start.

2. Dress Appropriately: just because it’s a Skype interviewing, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dress well. Don’t think that your appearance only matters when you are physically present at an interview, it also matters even when you are not physically present. When you dress well for a Skype interview, the interviewer will know that you are prepared for the interview and you take the interview seriously.

3. Get a good location: you also need to get a good location for the interview. You don’t want to have an interview that the interviewer will be distracted by things in the background of your video or by the noise coming from your end. The location chosen should be free of distractions, and it should be properly set

4. Test equipment: test your equipment beforehand. Test the laptop or tablet you will use during the interview in order to make sure that everything that needs to work is working properly. It wouldn’t look good if you are in a Skype interview and you find out that you can’t hear your interviewer properly. And so, test the equipment, the app, and so on

5. Research: don’t forget to research about the organization and know the things you need to know about the organization

6. Rehearse: it would also be helpful to rehearse before the interview. Practice likely questions before the interview time.

7. Turn off your notifications: turn off notifications that might disrupt your interview. It wouldn’t look good if your notifications are interrupting your interview session.

8. Be conscious of your body language and posture: don’t forget about your posture and your body language. For instance, sit well, place your hands well, etc

9. Look at the Webcam: don’t forget to look at the webcam. Sometimes, you might get distracted and look at the screen instead, don’t forget that you need to look at the webcam.

10. Questions: Don’t forget to ask the right questions when you need to.
