Traditions To Keep Christ In Christmas

To keep Christ in Christmas is to have Him in your daily living, standards, choices, and decisions throughout the season. Here, we focus on the birth of Jesus, the reason for the birth, and what it entails for the Christian community. It suggests that in everything you do throughout the season, we should try to put Jesus at the center.

As we grow and have families of our own, it is important that we incorporate certain traditions and habits to always keep the focus on Jesus during Christmas. These traditions ensure that the significance of the birth of Jesus into the world is not forgotten.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17 NKJV

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:6 NKJV

The following ways are how you can keep Christ in Christmas:

  1.  Focus on Jesus: Jesus is the reason for the season and all attention should be given to Him alone. These days, many Christian around the world are carried away by things such as shopping for Christmas, what to eat, where to visit. These things are necessary, no doubt. But in retrospect, we have shifted our attention completely away from the reason for the season to how to look and what to eat in the season. This season should be a time to be sober, to stay at the feet of Jesus like Mary in Luke 10:39. Enjoy His company and fellowship with the HolySpirit.
  1. Show some love: This season calls for expressly showing the love of Christ. Gather some family and friends to give out some items. Donate to orphanage homes, nursing homes, or elderly homes in your community. By all means, give people a reason to smile. And trust me, they will not forget in a hurry as we celebrate the birth of the Messiah. You can also give out surprise gifts to your friends and family. As Jesus said “It is more blessed to give than to receive“. Let the love of Christ make the difference.

  1. A Christmas Movie Night: It is all about Jesus. What better way to celebrate Jesus with your loved ones than watching a Christian Christmas movie together. Put off the light, share some popcorn, and have a good family time.
  1. Christmas Service: This can be either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Service. Make every minute of the service meaningful and life changing for you.
  1. Send Christmas messages: You can send personalized messages referencing Jesus to your loved ones. Be specific about celebrating Jesus and standing Him out to your loved ones this season.

As we celebrate Christmas and prepare for the new year, let us bear in mind that Jesus is forever the reason for the season.
