What It Means to Walk by Faith: Understanding Faith in Action

As I reflected on my 2024 faith journey, I realized that it was a year of unwavering trust in God’s promises. Prior to 2024, I knew that it was going to be my year, not because of wishful thinking or optimism, but because God had spoken to me. I stood on His word in Isaiah 55:11, which assured me that His promises will come to pass.
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
However, as the year unfolded, it seemed like nothing was working out. Setbacks and challenges plagued me, and I often wondered how God’s promise would be fulfilled amidst such difficulties. But I made it through to 2025, and in retrospect, I realized that my certainty in God’s word was what made the difference.
Walking in faith is not always easy. It requires stepping out into the unknown, trusting that God will show up. As I navigated the challenges of 2024, I came across a powerful reminder: when God promised Abraham a son, his “starter pack” was infertility. This resonated deeply with me, as it highlighted that faith often requires trusting God’s promises despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Faith is not about circumstances; it’s about trusting God’s word regardless of what’s happening around us. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are higher than ours. He accomplishes His promises in unexpected ways, and our faith is action when we trust Him.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
I’ve learned that faith and doubt can coexist, but it’s up to us to choose where we put our energy. Will we doubt our doubts or trust God’s word to bring us out of our situations? Sometimes, walking in faith means speaking what we want into manifestation, even when things seem impossible.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
My 2024 faith journey was not easy, but it taught me valuable lessons about trusting God’s promises. I hope that my story will inspire others to understand faith in action and to trust God’s word, even when the circumstances seem daunting.
